Every year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a nationwide day of giving occurs, allowing the community to give back to local nonprofits. This year, Charlotte Community Health Clinic is participating in #GivingTuesdayCLT to raise funds to care for our uninsured patients.
There are more than 125,000 uninsured in Mecklenburg County, with few places to turn for affordable health care. Your donations will go directly to helping us care for our uninsured patients, to whom we provide primary care, counseling, and dental care on a sliding fee discount.
This year, our goal is to raise enough money to provide a years worth of health care to two people during each day of the 14 day campaign. We are able to provide care to our uninsured for a year for about $419.00. This means in order to serve 28 uninsured individuals for a year, we need to raise $11,732.00.
While we would love to reach our goal of an entire year's worth of health care for 28 patients, every little bit helps.
- $40 provides an initial dental visit for a community member in need
- $70 provides a women's clinic visit
- 100 provides a series of health education classes
- $250 provides a month of medical support services
- $419 provides a years worth of health care to an uninsured patient
We hope you'll help us provide care to all those who need it. Thank you in advance for your generosity and know your support really makes a difference. Hear from CCHC patient Linda about the impact of access to care:
"When I first came here, I had missed my mammogram because of losing my health insurance. I had always kept myself checked, but I always had my own medical insurance from working. When I lost that, I couldn’t be seen by anyone. I couldn’t even go to my own doctor I used to go to. When I got here they scheduled me a mammogram and I was diagnosed with Type II breast cancer. And if it wasn’t for that, oh gosh…What can I say? I’m just thankful to be alive."
